Eva Koťátková (*1982, Prag) ist BAU Residency Künstlerin 2025 und wurde im Rahmen des Projekts „Pastoral Twilight“ eingeladen. Ihre Arbeit befasst sich mit den sozialen, institutionellen und physischen Strukturen des Alltags: den Regeln und Einschränkungen, die unser Denken, Lernen, Bewegen, Verhalten und Schaffen bestimmen. Sie konzentriert sich oft auf die Situation von Gruppen oder Einzelpersonen, die aus unterschiedlichen Gründen ausgeschlossen, diskriminiert oder zum Schweigen gebracht werden.
Eva Koťátkovás Arbeiten standen im Mittelpunkt von Einzelausstellungen auf der 60. Biennale von Venedig (2024), bei Nottingham Contemporary (2023) und der Arter Foundation, Istanbul (2023). Neben vielen anderen Gruppenausstellungen hat Eva Koťátková an der documenta, Kassel (2022), der 16. Istanbul Biennale (2019), JIWA: the Jakarta Biennial (2017), der New Museum’s Triennial, NY (2015); ar/ge Kunst, Bozen (2009) teilgenommen.
Während des Sommers wird Eva Koťátková in dem nach dem ehemaligen Kartäuserkloster benannten Dorf Karthaus einen Monat lang an einem partizipativen Prozess arbeiten.
Die diesjährige BAU Residency ist Teil des Projekts 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 Initiativen für ländliche Kulturen, das in Zusammenarbeit mit den Institutionen Les Woods (Tschechische Republik) und Inland (Spanien) durchgeführt wird.
Das Projekt 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 wird von der Europäischen Union ko-finanziert. Die geäußerten Ansichten und Meinungen sind jedoch ausschließlich die des Autors/der Autorinn und spiegeln nicht unbedingt die der Europäischen Union oder der EACEA wider. In the framework of Pastoral Twilight, BAU has selected Eva Koťátková* (1982, Prague) as artist in residency. Her work addresses the social, institutional and physical structures of everyday life- the rules and restrictions which shape how we think, learn, move, behave and create. She often focuses on the situation of groups or individuals who are excluded, discriminated or silenced for various reasons.
Eva’s work has been the focus of solo exhibitions held at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024); Nottingham Contemporary (2023); Arter Foundation, Istanbul (2023). Among many other group shows, Eva Koťátková has participated in documenta, Kassel (2022); the 16th Istanbul Biennial (2019), JIWA: the Jakarta Biennial (2017), the New Museum’s Triennial, NY (2015); ar/ge Kunst, Bolzano (2009).
During the summer Eva Koťátková will be spending one month with BAU working on a participatory process and exploring the interconnected lives of humans and non-humans in the small village of Karthaus, named after the former Carthusian monastery.
This year’s BAU residency is part of the project 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩: Initiatives for rural cultures held in collaboration with Les Woods (Czech Republic) and Inland (Spain).

Mentre il sole sorge di nuovo dalle cime delle Alpi, siamo entusiaste di annunciare la nostra nuova artista BAU in residenza per l’anno 2025 nell’ambito del progetto Pastoral Twilight: Eva Koťátková* (1982, Praga). Il suo lavoro affronta le strutture sociali, istituzionali e fisiche della vita quotidiana: le regole e le restrizioni che modellano il nostro modo di pensare, imparare, muoverci, comportarci e creare. Spesso si concentra sulla situazione di gruppi o individui che sono esclusi, discriminati o messi a tacere per vari motivi.
La produzione artistica di Eva è stata protagonista di mostre personali tenutesi alla 60ª Biennale di Venezia (2024); Nottingham Contemporary (2023); Arter Foundation, Istanbul (2023). Tra le numerose mostre collettive, Eva Koťátková ha partecipato a documenta, Kassel (2022); alla 16ª Biennale di Istanbul (2019), a JIWA: la Biennale di Giacarta (2017), alla Triennale del New Museum, NY (2015); ar/ge Kunst, Bolzano (2009).
Durante l’estate Eva Koťátková trascorrerà un mese con BAU lavorando a un processo partecipativo nel piccolo villaggio di Karthaus, che prende il nome dall’ex monastero certosino.
La residenza BAU di quest’anno fa parte del progetto 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 : Iniziative per le culture rurali realizzato in collaborazione con Les Woods (Repubblica Ceca) e Inland (Spagna).
